Closet Additions

Since last year when I started my health journey I’ve lost 22lbs. I also started working part-time for an Architectural Interior Design Firm in the fall and I’m going to an office a few days a week and while no one is dressy these days I wanted to get a few new things that fit and look cute!

I popped into J.Crew Factory and I’m so excited I had to share what I bought.

I came home with these 6 pieces. I ordered additional pieces which have all arrived and fit wonderfully.

I did go a bit much with pants… but, friends I am down an entire size and I haven’t been so excited to go shopping in gosh I can’t even remember when!

I purchased from left to right clockwise: The Essential Straight Jean in all-day Stretch, The High Rise Girlfriend Chino Pant, The Drapey Wide-Leg Trouser Jean, The Kallie Straight Leg Pant in Black, The Wide-Leg Crop Jean in all-day Stretch, The Kallie Straight Leg Pant in Navy - I am a true size 10 / 30 waist and all these pants fit me well. I never purchased highwaisted pants before but I have to admit they’re comfortable.

I own a few blazers in size 12 I’ll still be able to get away with wearing because I have broad shoulders - but I loved this Original Schoolboy Blazer it’s a wool mixed fabric. The camel color will be super with the rest of my wardrobe. My size 10 fits to a T.

I have never meet a stripe I didn’t like friends… I own too many striped t-shirts and Breton shirts to count. When I saw the Striped Teddie Sweater in all cotton I knew it was coming home with me. I swooned when I saw this dark Chambray Shirt - which has a good sleeve length. And of course the Striped Girlfriend Crewneck Tee was an immediate yes!

I also recently ordered a dress from Tuckernuck for an event in June. I’ll share more about the dress and it’s details in a future post! Til next time friends be well and I’ll see you over on Instagram in my stories. Take care!

Daffodils 2025

Daffodils (plural noun): any of various perennial bulbous herbs (genus Narcissus) of the amaryllis family

especially: one whose flowers have a large corona elongated into a trumpet

It’s starting friends… the ground is showing the first signs. This beautiful bunch was purchased at Trader Joes a few weeks ago. I can’t wait to cut my very own. I have a few varieties here are the Chalet. I’ve purchased all from White Flower Farm through their catalog.

  • Arkle (Large Trumpet unscented)

  • Sun Discs (Small Double Yellow unscented)

  • Acropolis (White with Orange center - amazing scent)

  • Thalia (White with sweet scent)

  • Le Torch (Yellow with Orange center)

Out of the varieties I’ve planted - the Acropolis this large white is my favorite. It has a delightful scent that is not overly sweet. I’d love this in a perfume.

Daffodils have a sap that leach from their stalk - therefore they don’t play well with other flowers. I came across this method of burning the ends to stop the sap on Instagram. I haven’t tried it. But, I did try to find this method listed anywhere on the Internet - I looked and looked and could not locate a source. I believe its from a florist in Michigan.

But, interestingly enough a good friend, floral designer and gardener Sandy Devaney of The Collected Garden (who I interviewed here) saw me talking about this method and told me the following:

“The only thing you need to do for daffodils is – Give them a fresh cut, leave them in their own vase for 24 hours so all the sap seeps and then they can get placed in with other flowers after a day just don't re-cut the ends.”

Are you a lover of Daffodils? Do you grow your own or are you grabbing them from your local market or florist? However you enjoy them I hope you do… this season lets us know Spring is here! Life is renewing!

Til next time I’ll see you over on Instagram. Be well friends!
